Production Week 4
Left: Old tone shader
Middle: New Toon Shader
Right: New toon shader with baked AO
This is our new funky inka block with the new toon shader. After our last meeting we got the feedback that our toon shader is taking away too much depth of our objects. So we decided to add Ambient Occlusion to our assets, which makes them look way more readable and also tones down the colors. If we want to have some extra depth in our objects we can even add a baked AO into the toon shader.
One of our newest features is also the bomb. It will be thrown by the characters and can destroy the tower of your enemies. Together with the new toon shader, its already looking quite hot.
Gameplay-wise we implemented the bomb throwing as well. We are still thinking how we will tackle the bouncing of the bombs from the map.
For the player interaction we added a visually better feedback for the punching. It makes it feel way more fun and the visual feedback adds a lot. Also the animation is blending already and lets the player stumble.
Our gameplay is starting to come together: Time to implement some proper User Interface. We started with making a great Main Screen to enter our game. It looks fun, bubbly and is also our new Logo for the Itch.io page!
Then we created a menu to pause the game. This is very necessary when you want to take a break from our exciting game.
A settings menu, to control the music, sound and volume.
Already prepared more buttons to add to the future UI.
Most importantly for the UI is the User output. We added a little racing line on the side to see who has the highest tower so far. Easy and clear.
